Elevator Pitch

Electrochaea is developing a disruptive grid-scale energy storage technology known as power-to-gas. Our process converts low-cost and stranded electricity into pipeline-grade renewable gas for direct injection into the existing natural gas grid. The core of our power-to-gas system is a selectively evolved microorganism – a methanogenic archaea – that excels through unprecedented catalytic ability and industrial robustness. The technical advantages of our solution translate into lower capital and operating costs and greater operational flexibility than conventional thermochemical methanation processes.

Product

We supply a biomethanation reactor system and can provide the overall system engineering and integration from feed gas supply to product gasfeed-in.



Why we are ecofriendly

Our proprietary technology allows the conversion of stranded renewable energy and CO2 exhaust streams into green biomethanation which can substitute natural gas in energy and transport applications.

Enviromental Impact

Utilizing carbon dioxide which would be emitted into the atmosphere and processing it with stranded renewable power in order to substitute natural gas contributes substantially to emission reductions.

Economic Impact

Currently not all renewable power can be utilized due to supply-demand imbalances and grid congestions.
Converting this power into natural gas creates additional economic value in the energy and transport sector.

Social Impact

Reduction of CO2 emissions helps reducing the progression of global warming and thus reduces migration pressure in various regions affected by droughts or flodding.
