Flooring tiles that generate electricity from your footsteps

Elevator Pitch

A global leader within the footfall energy harvesting sector, Pavegen develop and manufacture flooring technology that converts the wasted kinetic energy from footsteps into renewable electricity. This electricity can be used to power lighting, communications networks and advertising displays, providing a sustainable alternative in high footfall, urban environments, where wind and solar are ineffective in comparison. The highly engaging technology has the ability to transform smart cities of the future, by providing a low-carbon energy contribution and real-time footfall data analytics.

Product

When stepped on, the Pavegen surface flexes a near imperceptible 5mm, generating 5-7 Watts of power over the duration of the footstep, enough to power applications. Alternatively, the energy can be stored within a battery and utilised at a later date.

Why we are ecofriendly

The tile itself is comprised of recyclable materials – the top surface uses 100% recycled rubber from old lorry tires and the base of the tile uses 80% recycled materials, thus making our product self-sustainable.
