Energy from Ocean Waves

Elevator Pitch

SINN Power's wave energy converter will supply people on coasts all over the world with affordable, reliable and easy-to-install renewable electricity from ocean waves – in mini-grids and as a large-scale producer.

Product

Most consumers at remote coasts are currently dependent on expensive and climate-damaging diesel generators to fulfill their energy needs—at a cost of $0.50/kWh or more.

SINN Power’s wave energy converter uses a patented concept to generate electricity from ocean waves cost-efficiently, reliably and simply.

The key to success for SINN Power’s concept is modularity: It allows for easy optimization of output, cost-efficient mass-production of components, simple transport, installation and maintenance.

Why we are ecofriendly

SINN Power’s wave energy converter provides an ecological and economical alternative to diesel generators in remote mini-grids.

By supplying public grids, SINN Power will eventually contribute to a successful global energy transition.

Latest News

SINN Power has successfully tested a first full-scale demonstrator module of the wave energy converter in the Mediterranean Sea in December 2015.

The next milestone is the development of a near-series pilot wave energy converter in 2016, followed by the market introduction in 2017.

Fundraising

SINN Power plans to raise 3,5 million in an A-round in mid-2016 to finance the investment cost of the first floating pilot wave energy converter as well as the personnel and capital costs for devel-opment and market entry until the end of 2017.

Capital Raised

€800,000 (strategic investors and business angels)

Grants Raised

€640,000 (EXIST-Forschungstransfer Stage 1 from the German Federal Ministry of Economic Affairs and Energy)

Employees

5 founders in the managing team
3 doctoral students/employees
about 20 full-time student team members

Enviromental Impact

The first pilot wave energy converter can replace a diesel generator on a remote coast in 2016 already, saving 500 tons of CO2 every year.

Economic Impact

Wave energy can replace a majority of diesel electricity in remote islands, saving thousands of euros in fuel and maintenance costs every year. The typical amortization time in a remote location is less than 5 years.
