Sunride is a software platform that enables organisations to sell solar power directly from rooftops to end-customers. Sunride transforms solar projects into micro-utilities.

There is a revolution taking shape in the energy industry. We are witnessing a renewable energy driven shift from large-scale, centralised power generation towards a new system, based on small-scale and highly distributed “personal” energy technologies. Passive electricity consumers are turning into active, power producing citizens. We use the term “Micro Utilities” to describe these new market actors.

The Micro Utility model of selling power directly to end customers yields much higher profits than the previous model of feeding power into the grid at a fixed tariff: Currently approx. 13 - 15 cent/kWh (VAT inclusive) when feeding into the grid versus 24 cent/kWh (VAT inclusive) when selling directly. As a result, Micro Utilities are the new hot trend in solar.

The problem is the insane complexity of the electricity market when selling solar power to end customers directly. This is uncharted territory. There are no adequate tools to get the job done efficiently: (1) Relevant project data is all over the place, distributed across different repositories and incompatible systems. (2) Almost every task has do be done manually. Micro Utilities are inherently labour intensive. (3) It’s “Excel Hell” and it’s holding Micro Utilities back.

Product

Sunride is a software platform that enables Micro Utilities to sell solar power directly to end customers, at scale. Sunride’s USP is data and process automation: Everything in Sunride just works at the click of a button.

Sunride’s technology platform enables Micro Utilities to collect and aggregate all project related data in a single place. Once the project data is online, it is fed into Sunride’s proprietary software system in order to automate the underlying business processes.

Building on top of this back-end system, Sunride provides a range of highly automated customer facing services in the domains of: (1) Project communication and stakeholder engagement. (2) System monitoring and maintenance. (2) Metering and customer invoicing. (4) Financial management, taxes & bookkeeping.

Customers experience Sunride as a cloud based software application. They use the Sunride platform to: (1) Access and manage all project related data, (2) Engage with project stakeholders and customers, (3) Monitor technical and financial performance across their projects, (4) Sell power directly to end customers, including back-up power from grid.

Sunride’s propriety automation technology is based on an intimate understanding of the complex business processes that underpin Micro-Utilities. Sunride is currently the only company that offers a software platform to automate these underlying processes. Our software enables Micro Utilities to sell power directly with zero friction and zero complexity.



Why we are ecofriendly

Every Kilowatthour of solar electricity is estimated to avoid 0.715 kg CO2 emissions. We expect to have solar projects with a combined capacity of 120,000 kW on Sunride by Q4 2016. Together, these projects will contribute to avoid 68 tons of CO2 emissions.
